Background
The Caribbean Internet Governance Forum (CIGF) is a multi-country, multi-stakeholder forum initiated by the CTU and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat in 2005 to coordinate a regional approach to Internet Governance. The forum has since met annually and the primary product of its work has been the formulation of a Caribbean Internet Governance Policy Framework issued in 2009. This policy framework is a guide for regional stakeholders on the Caribbean vision, priority areas and recommendations for Internet Governance. The 8th CIGF will address areas of high priority for further policy development and initiate the work to appropriately update and keep current the policy framework.
Objectives
- Highlight priority Internet Governance Issues for the Caribbean.
- Review progress since the 7th CIGF in 2011.
- Present a business case for advancing the proliferation of Caribbean Internet Exchange Points (IXP).
- Outline the need for comprehensive Cyber-Security Framework.
- Review and Revise the Caribbean Internet Governance Policy Framework.
- Plan future policy development and collaboration work.

1 Day Intensive Cyber Security Workshop

Following the 8th CIGF, The CTU in collaboration with the Government of St. Lucia and the Commonwealth Foundation for ICT Development will host a one day intensive Cybersecurity workshop, which will provide guidance to key stakeholders on the development of a national framework for Cyber Security in St. Lucia.
Local stakeholders from Government Ministries, the Judiciary, Law Enforcement, Academic Institutions and Chamber of Commerce will be invited to particpate and make their input into the framework.
