
Announcing CaribNOG 3
The Caribbean Network Operators Group 3nd Regional Meeting
The Caribbean Network Operators Group, (CaribNOG) will be hosting its third regional meeting in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago from 11- 14 June 2012.
The four day event is being jointly hosted by the Caribbean Telecommunications Union and Packet Clearing House, with the kind support of ARIN, ISOC, LACNIC, The University of the West Indies, St Augustine and the BrightPath Foundation.
A key objective of CaribNOG is to better position the Caribbean to address critical technology challenges and issues and to collaboratively derive relevant solutions.
This third event comes on the heels of a series of successful technical workshops and training events held across the Caribbean in 2011. CaribNOG has been steadily building its reputation as an influential forum where network technicians and technology professionals share experiences and participate in expert-led, high-tech training exercises and hands-on technical workshops.
CaribNOG 3 is expected to draw industry experts from across the region and beyond. The event is expected to attract expert facilitators and participants from New Zealand, Europe, Africa, Latin America and North America. The international nature of gathering affords Trinidad and Tobago a unique opportunity to showcase its culture, capacity and technology prowess to the world.
The Program
The CaribNOG 3 program includes world-class hands-on technical training sessions for building the skills of local ICT technicians and engineers in:
- Cyber Security and Threat Detection
- Advanced Routing and Network Design Techniques
- Internet Exchange Point Design and Management
- IPv6 Deployment
- Voice over IP (VoIP)
- DNSSEC and RPKI

Support from the Global Internet Community
CaribNOG has featured prominently in the CTU’s Caribbean ICT Roadshow. The CTU sees the staging of CaribNOG 3 in Trinidad and Tobago as part of its stated commitment to deepening technical expertise within the sub-region. Furthermore, the goals of CaribNOG are consistent with the CTU's vision for greater technical collaboration within the region.
CaribNOG also has strong support from some major organizations in the industry including:
- the American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN);
- the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN);
- the Internet Society (ISOC);
- the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Addresses Registry (LACNIC) and
- Packet Clearing House (PCH).
Registration - Open to All
Regional ICT practitioners have a unique opportunity to benefit from the expertise of some of the top minds in the industry.
Open to Internet Service Providers, Network Administrators, Computer Engineers, Technology Researchers and ICT Consultants and other interested stakeholders, an Early Bird Registration fee of US$100.00 is available until Sunday 11th March. Registration for the meeting will be US$250.00 from Monday 12th March.

Call for Presentations
This is the initial public call for presentations for the event.
- Deadline for the reception of proposals: Wednesday 14 March 2012
- Notification of proposal acceptance: Monday 19 March 2012
The submission of presentations for the CaribNOG 3 is subject to the following conditions:
- Presentations must be sent in Microsoft PowerPoint
(PPT) or Portable Document Format (PDF).
- Presentations must not exceed twenty (20) minutes.
Those interested in presenting their work should send the following data, within the timeframe specified above:
- Complete title of the presentation
- Extended abstract plus a draft of the slides or the complete article if it were available.
- Complete name(s), email address(es), biographical data and organization(s) of which the interested parties are a part of or represent.
